Top 5 exciting events at Virginia Beach Oceanfront this summer!

Come vacation at the oceanfront this summer or come for a quick getaway and enjoy some fun, exciting and memorable events.  The following events are great for the entire family to enjoy and attend.

  • Latin Fest June 22 to June 23 on the beach at 24th Street

Come to Virginia Beach and enjoy the sounds of Latin music and delicious food. The music is so astounding it’s sure to get you off your feet and moving to the beat.  Music from local and regional bands will be on stage dazzling you with Salsa, Merengue and Jazz.  Wake up Saturday morning and participate in the Zumba marathon where a lot of instructors will teach and show you some awesome moves. A Latin Village will be set up at the 24th Street Park where you’ll find vendors and be amazed by some cultural activities.

Main music performers will perform on the giant stage on the beach at 24th Street.  This event is a free event.

  •  Sandstock-A Tribute to Rock and Roll  June 29 to July 1 on the beach at 24th Street

Sandstock is a beach inspired variation on “Woodstock”. National and regional tribute artists perform songs from some of the greatest rockers in history. There will be two stages set up on the beach-The Hippy Dippy Stage and the Flower Power Stage. Bring your friends and family and be ready to dance the night away. All shows are free including the laughter and smiles. Tribute bands include Mostley Crue (Motley Crue), Hot for Teacher (Van Halen), Appetite for Destruction (Guns N’ Roses), Draw the Line (Aerosmith), Heartbreaker (Heart), Rumours (Fleetwood Mac)
 

  • Stars & Stripes Explosion July 4 on the beach at 24th Street, 17th Street Park and 31st Street Park

You can’t celebrate the 4th of July without music and fireworks. Several performances on stages along the oceanfront will bring out the locals and tourists to this star-spangled salute to our great country.  Entertainment for all to enjoy from patriotic and classical to tribute bands. Bands include Chester B’s Motown Review, Red, White and Boom!, BJ Griffin & The Galaxy Groove and The Deloreans.

Performance by the Tidewater Winds with the Regent University Singers. The Tidewater Winds is one of the few professional, nonprofit concert bands that performs repertoire ranging from Sousa marches to Big Band.

Before the night ends, amazing fireworks at 9:30 and they can be seen from anywhere along the oceanfront.

  •  Virginia Beach FunkFest Beach Party August 24 to August 25 on the beach at 24th Street

Funkfest Beach Party is the heart and soul of this event with music from some amazing legends. Funk music is a style of music from the mid to late 1960’s when African-American musicians blended soul music, soulful jazz and R&B music into a rhythmic, danceable form of music. Sounds include electric bass and drums. Entertainment Schedule includes, Slave, Bar-Kays, Lakeside and the SOS band and all shows are free and open to the public.

  • American Music Festival August 31 to September 2 at stages on 5th, 17th, 24th and 31st Streets

This festival is one of the summer’s biggest events. It hosts a genre of music throughout the oceanfront over the Labor Day Weekend.  It’s the largest outdoor music event along the East Coast. They’ll have national, regional and local acts on stages along the boardwalk. The 5th Street stage is the ticketed concert venue for the festival. One can purchase individual show tickets for Friday, Saturday or Sunday or purchase a three day all-inclusive concert pass.

The other 3 main stages 17th Street Park, 24th Street Park and 31st Street Park will feature national acts and they’ll be free to the public.  There will be sponsors and vendors located throughout each park and boardwalk.
