Atlantic Coast Kite Festival is May 5 and May 6
The festival starts at 11am to 4pm on the beach between 16th and 18th Streets. Come out and watch kite fliers fly some colorful and unique kites on the beach. This event features many activities for the entire family to enjoy. Have fun participating in the Best Kite Contest or learn how to properly fly a kite with flight training. Families can make their own kite at the kite building workshop. The workshop is free and includes materials and instructions as well as aerodynamics of kite flying and kite safety.
Pungo Offroad Monsters on the Beach presented by Eastern Truck & Accessories May 11 to May 13
Monsters on the Beach brings excitement to the oceanfront as monster trucks combat for ultimate sand domination. This is a family event full of loud and fast action. The course is set up on the beach at 6th street with bleachers for families to admire the action from the boardwalk. Watch trucks jump over sand dunes and junk cars throughout the course. Beach Music Cruise In, presented by TowneBank May 18 to May 20
Beach Music Cruise In, is a popular event that mixes bands on the beach and classic cars on the boardwalk bringsr sounds of the oldies and lots of dancing. Come take a walk down memory lane while listening to some of the best Beach Music bands on the East Coast. Along the boardwalk some of the most beautiful classic cars and hot rods are showcased. This is a three-day event of free concerts on the beach at 30th Street. Come and kickoff your flip flops and dance on the beach to some juke box hits.
Pirate Party on the Beach May 19 to May 20
The annual Pirate on the beach is back for two days of music, pirates and more. Another family event that will bring out the pirate in everyone with tons of games, treasure hunt and pirate re-enactors. Bring the kids to make bandanas, face painting and shop for some unique pirate themed items. Come watch the Shadow Players Stage Combat Group as they amuse the audience with some thrilling sword play. This is a free event and fun for all at the 17th Street Park.
Salute to Summer May 25 to May 27
Salute to Summer is a kickoff of the season with a “Star Spangled” salute to great music, summer fun and our military. Free entertainment on three outdoor stages with live music by local and regional bands. Along the boardwalk from 16th to 32nd Streets the “Heroes Walk” is displayed with essays written by high school students on a four by eight-foot banner for all to read. These essays describe historical U.S. military conflicts and remind us the sacrifices that have been made by our military.
