When it’s this cold in January at the oceanfront, you look for fun things to do inside where it’s warm. There are a few events this month at the Virginia Beach Convention Center located a just a couple of miles from Four Sails. Such as:
2018 Hampton Roads International Auto Show
If you are in the market for a new car this year, this may be an event you don’t want to miss. It’s the first auto show of the year and it starts January 12 through January 14. The show hours are 10am to 9pm Friday and Saturday, 10am to 6pm Sunday. Tickets are $9 in advance and $12 at the door. You can purchase tickets online at hamptonroadsautoshow.com. Stop by and check out the latest models, prices and newly designed automobiles. Showroom will include cars from Jaguars, Audi, Porsche, Honda, Toyota, Chevrolets and many other makes.
Coastal Virginia Magazine Wine Fest
On Saturday January 27, come out and celebrate the beginning of the year with some great tasting Virginia wines. The festival is from 1pm to 7pm. There will be vendors from wineries, specialty foods, arts and crafts. Enjoy a grape stomp competition, a craft beer garden, and live entertainment.
This is an adult only event, no one under 21 will be permitted. Tickets are $45 in advance or $55 at the door. Ticket includes entry, commemorative glass, swag bag, tastings from wineries, beer garden and specialty foods. You can purchase tickets at http://coastalvirginiawinefest.com
Virginia Beach Polar Plunge February 2-3
Take an ice-cold dip into the Atlantic Ocean with thousands of Special Olympics supporters. This is an annual fundraising event for the Special Olympics. The Festival jumps off Saturday with the SunTrust Dash & Splash Challenge ( A 4 mile and a 1 mile run), a costume contest, parade down the boardwalk, Plunge Marketplace featuring local Virginia artisans, frosty beverages from Big Ugly Brewing, Chick-Fil-A sandwiches, hot chocolate and coffee and follow up with an icy dip in the Atlantic Ocean with 3,000 other people.
